CIEA offers three core programs. Together, these programs empower the California Indian communities to practice subsistence fishing culures, avoid mercury and PCBs in fish, self-advocate for California lands.

Mercury Tribal Health– CIEA encourages eating traditional fish which are high in Omega-3 fatty acids.  However, some fish contain mercury.  Learn how to avoid mercury and PCBs in wild-caught and store-bought fish.   We also offer free educational presentations to health clinics, WIC programs, and for California Tribes. Click here to learn more

Tribal Self-Advocacy– We provide technical assistance for Tribal leadership and Tribal staff to increase capacity in order for Tribes to advocate on their own behalf for the benefit of their own People. Click here to learn more

Native Youth Environmental Leadership– This program provides students and community members with valuable experiences to address environmental toxins affecting Native communities and pathways to academic success through college internships, Fellowships through California Tribes, and through education for jr. high and high school youth. Click here to learn more
